The Inaugural Rebels Rugby Reunion was held on May 30th – 31st, 2009 in conjunction with the USA/ Ireland Rugby test match.
On Saturday, we began the day with a golf outing at the Scots Valley links. We had a good turnout with last minute enthusiasts requiring an extra tee time. Congratulations to our winners, Bruce Murphy and Glenn Allen.
The well-attended gathering at Pete’s Capitola Beach House was wonderful, exciting and heartwarming. A joy and a pleasure of meeting up again. This was a fun filled evening complete with a great BBQ, sharing of pictures and reminiscing. Rick Humm paid tribute to the class of 1984, Northern California champions and winner of the Westminster Shield. Mike Fanucchi spoke on behalf of the 1984 undefeated team, sharing many of his genuine memories.
A post BBQ pub crawl in Capitola village followed and on Sunday we suffered another hangover courtesy of our national rugby team performance against Ireland.
Thank you to all the attendees who made this event possible with special gratitude to those who had traveled from greater distance.
